FAQ

  • What is your story?

Captain Brad is a long-time boater, growing up on the Thornapple River in Cascade (Grand Rapids area) and boating almost daily during the summer. Brad was enjoying rowboats, canoes, paddleboats, and speedboats - always at the oars, pedals, or wheel. If not on the river, the family was trailering the speedboat to the Grand River and then navigating the boat down the river and out onto Lake Michigan. Indeed, the family was water oriented!

As an adult, Brad enjoyed spending weekends on his yacht in Saugatuck making trips to south to South Haven and Benton Harbor, north to Holland, Grand Haven and Muskegon and also making occassional trips across to Chicago (especially for the Chicago air show!).

Brad & John, the owners of Saugatuck Land & Sea now live in Austin TX during the fall, winter and spring. In Austin, we own Austin Private Car Service, Austin's premier car service.

We spend summers on our yacht in Saugatuck, but can't seem to get away from work 100%, so we enjoy offering both car service and boat charters here in Saugatuck in addition to monitoring our business operations in Austin, TX.

Brad has a Coast Guard OUPV Captain's License. Safety has always been a hallmark of boating - and is paramount on Invincible Summer.

Saugatuck Land & Sea is not just a business to make money for us. It's not a cookie cutter charter of getting you on and off and collecting money. That's just not our style.

We invite you to experience a safe, relaxing cruise with experienced boaters who love the water.

  • Do you have a telephone number that I can call?

A telephone number is provided to booked clients only. If you need to make contact prior to booking, we encourage you to use our contact form.

  • What hours do you operate?

For car charter service, we operate from 8am to 8pm only. For yacht charters, we operate from 8am to 10pm (sometimes later for late night cruises back from dinner in Holland).

  • What time should I schedule pickup for a sunset cruise?

We recommend scheduling a pickup from your origin point 1.5 hours prior to sunset. You can find a the specific sunset time for your date here.

  • Tell me about the yacht.

Invincible Summer is a 44' Trojan Express. She has all the comforts of home. Three staterooms, 2 heads, a galley with a full size fridge, stove and sink, air conditioning/heat, and central vac!

She is powered by two massive Cummins diesel engines delivering 850hp each. She has a full array of electronics including chart plotter, auto pilot, radar, marine VHF radio and more.

The back cockpit is quite comfortable for at least 10 passengers, but we limit passenger count to 6.

  • Do you operate a "party barge"?

No. We have no issues with responsible consumption of alcohol but if your plan is to get snot-slinging drunk, we invite you to choose another service. It will not be tolorated on our yacht. Truly, drunks and motion is not a good match. We cater to professionals.
